Scene # 1 :

This morning, I woke up with the sun shining in my face.

I mean, really!

The haze has been SO bad these few weeks that I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to have the sun warm my face. So I woke up much earlier than intended and got ready for the day.

After my shower and getting ready to go out to town to settle a few personal things – I even brought my little Olympus P&S to take pictures of the Blue sky and the Clouds :P I was just too happy to be breathing proper air and seeing the sky again. The last few days of work had been irritable and I nearly redefined the statement “to plant ones foot onto ones ass”. Read the rest of this entry »

Magician’s Zahir

Posted by kris on October 1, 2006

While in my room, a soft polite knock on the door reached my ears as I was reading and halfway through my bottle of red.

“Can you help me get rid of a problem?” my sister asked.

“What problem?” I didn’t even want to look up from the book, not because I was lazy, but because I know of the sudden rush I’d feel in my head from all that red.

“There’s a lizard in my room and I want to get rid of it,” she said in a sheepish voice. Earlier on, she complained about roaches in one of the hotels that she frequents due to her travelling job – now it’s lizards.

“Get it on your own, they are harmless.”

“Please!” she begged me in such a way that one just can’t refuse. Well, I could have refused but she is my sister afterall and she did ask nice. I got up, wobbly and then sauntered into her room and she handed me some toilet paper. I stared at it alittle bit and asked her how big the bugger was.

Turns out that it’s a small one. I groaned as she kept pleading that I get it and flush it down the toilet.

“Why would you want to flush it down the toilet? What has it ever done to you?” I asked.

“I just don’t want it near me or in my room at all!”

When I caught it (it wasn’t too hard since it was really small and was confused as to where it was running to), I made her open up the window so I could let it go free. “It didn’t do anything to harm you,” I told her, “It deserves to live just like everyone else.”

Except roaches. I really hate those little sh*ts.

She did as she was told, and that little lizard lived by mercy alone. I couldn’t imagine it drowning for no reason. It’s just not right to such a creature.
