Your Mother & Amber Chia

While I was rotting away at some far away holiday resort (which serves food that makes you miss hawker stuff very much) doing nothing but surfing channels or turning up in time for my meals just after the guests, everyone I knowhas been calling me up, telling me about the shows I have been missing in KL. WTF?!?

This has, ofcourse been making me very miserable and although I am doing what I can with my time, I know I'm missing out on alot of shots that could help me improve. What can be done though? My job is my job, and I can't keep rejecting assignments that come my way. But oh~! The opportunities that are missed!

Last Friday's fashion show at the KLCC has been one of the most hilarious ones I've ever attended. Eddie, a freelancer, kept making comments on each and every model that showed up.

"Oh my —-! This one looks like someone's mother!" he exclaimed. She has unusually large and high cheekbones, eyes that rival space invaders, a square face that seems to make her head bigger than her body, and thin as a board… no, thinner. And not to mention, her smile's as scary as hell. Each time she came onto the runway, Ed would say, "Here comes your mother."

unexpected late night calls

Last night, at 2.20am, some joker called me and started talking in a i-wanna-be-european-but-I'm-asian accent. I don't really know what he said because I was groggy from being woken up so suddenly (I was dreaming of taking pictures of all those gorgeous male models and … having chocolate? mmm~~ If you'd believe in Freud's theories, this is meant to be symbolic I think… PUuuuuUUrrrr~~).

From what I can piece together, he was calling from the UK. If I didn't hear wrong, he said one of my former Korean guests said that I was nice and somehow he got my number through a friend and called me just to say "Hi"… Asked me if I was Korean ("No, I'm Malaysian" I said, trying to get out of that sleepy voice. "Oh! You're Malaysian?" he repeated, as if he couldn't believe his ears) I told him it's 2 in the morning and he quickly apologized, laughed nervously and said he'd like to call again later when I am awake. Okay, whatever.  Now that I am awake… I'm wondering if I had dreamt the call last night I hope so, because I don't think I'd like having people getting my number so simply.

It's 7.35pm now. No calls so far. Thank goodness! I've had enough time to go through most of my pictures and actually post some new ones. Maybe I should buy more webspace… hmmm… should I or should I not?

Nuts about the show

There is now a mad rush for fashion shows everywhere. It's so addictive that I have actually given up a weekend assignment (a good pay too) just to attend it. 

Hahahah~! I know, I know, I'm crazy. But atleast I have the option to be crazy and free when I want to. That's the beauty of my job. I mean, if I had gone for it, knowing that I'll be missing out tons of opportunities to take some good shots, I know I'd be miserable at work. So yeah, I'd rather forego one assignment than to be miserable for the rest of the weekend with all kinds of "what-ifs" in my mind.

With this, you can expect to see more photos of the models on the runway in the next few days. This is so fun!

Starting Over

*sigh*… Despite being able to find a place to replace all the stuff I've written, I will still have to find a way to have the pictures loaded here. I'll try to figure it out as soon as I can. In the meanwhile, I'll have to pick the stuff I want to be published here as some rely alot on pictures to tell the tale, so it just kinda sucks that all will just have to be words only for now. Wish me luck!
